Advent Colour case study

"We saved time, money and backache with our Loveshaw Case Sealer and Pallet Wrapper"

Advent Colour, a digital lithographic printer based Hampshire, had manually packed and labelled boxes for many years. A free on site-consultation with Loveshaw and subsequent on-site demonstration changed all that.

Advent Colour’s scepticism about Loveshaw’s ability to automate a process that had been performed by hand for years gave way to delight as the installation of three Little David case sealers, each fitted with a Microjet2 two line dot-matrix case coder, meant that boxes no longer had to be pre-made before filling, and were sealed automatically. Hand applied labels are also now a thing of the past.

As their confidence in Loveshaw’s professionalism, quality of service and products grew, Advent reviewed other areas of their production process. The result? A Loveshaw ‘EASY’ pallet wrapper has replaced the old hand-wrapping approach to pallet stabilisation.

The benefits of working with Loveshaw for Advent include:

  • Manual processes replaced with automation, saving money and improving efficiency
  • More efficient and safer pallet distribution as there is now no risk of hand-burn from manual application of the film, dizziness (caused by staff walking around the pallet) and potential back problems
  • Space saving, as an area to make boxes is no longer required and the Loveshaw machines have a small ‘footprint’
  • Reduction in the cost of peripherals (labels, for example).

As Kevin Green, General Manager for Loveshaw Europe, put it :-

"Any company putting product in boxes could benefit from our packaging machinery. Case sealers are machines that will apply tape to a cardboard box and seal it. The LD7, for example, our entry level case sealer, can handle a wide range of boxes, has a single mast so change over from one size of box to another is extremely quick and requires very little maintenance. It’s available for less than £5 per day, so will pay for itself even if used for just one hour."
