Loveshaw expands service team

Orion Packaging Systems (UK) Ltd, the Hereford based pallet wrapping manufacturer has ceased trading.

A lot of people have been left wondering how they are going to get their Orion equipment serviced.

Orion and Loveshaw always had a friendly rivalry. They had similar customers, collaborated on some projects and had been competitors on others. Both have supplied significant amounts of end-of-line packaging machinery, semi-automatic turntable Pallet Wrappers in particular.

'Given the similarity in the customer base and in some of our products,' said on Kevin Green the Loveshaw general manger, 'on becoming aware of the situation, we decided to take on Oliver Williams from Orion. He is an extremely well qualified engineer.  Like the rest of our packaging machinery range, we will provide a full break-down, call out and planned maintenance program to those ex-Orion customers impacted by this. Unlike others who may offer a similar service, we will also provide a full range of spares and consumable items. This will be supported and backed up with our normal warranty,' he added, 'Oliver has hit the ground running. We have already had Orion customers approach us to review their service requirements. Who better to do so than someone with more than 10 yrs of experience with Orion, someone that has been involved in the design, service and manufacture of the entire Orion packaging machinery range? I am extremely please that he has decided to join us. We offer Orion customers an unrivalled assurance that they will still be able to obtain quality service and break-down cover, from someone that knows the range inside out.'

If you have any queries regarding service or break-down of any Orion equipment, call Loveshaw Europe.

Jim Steele Retires

Loyal employee says a sad farewell. After nearly 22 years service, Jim Steele is finally hanging up his safety boots. Jim, 65 on 11th July 2007, is retiring. The senior engineer is all set to put his feet up, get the radio out (ham radio that is) and take life easy.

I can still remember, says Jim, 'when the typical sealing machine used glue and was the size of a small car, now they're as small as a computer desk and can be lifted by one person, how things change,' he went on 'If variety is the spice of life, then I will live for a very long time indeed, I don't think there were ever two days the same, I will miss not being at work but I'm looking forward to being busy doing nothing'

Kevin Green, General Manager commented 'Jim is an example to us all. It is not often these days that people stay with one company for most of their working life, over the years he has made a huge contribution to the success of Loveshaw Europe, we will miss him. On behalf of Loveshaw and all those personal contacts within our (his) customers I would like to wish him well in his retirement, and say a huge vote of thanks for all the time & effort he put into his role. Thanks Jim, enjoy your retirement.'

Please remember not to come to work tomorrow Jim!

Total Pack 2007

Visitors to this year's Total Pack Exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham were able to experience first hand the potential benefits of Little David Case Sealers. Loveshaw Europe, a PPMA member were pleased to be represented at this 4 day international packaging industry show.

Little David Case Sealers at Total Exhibition, NEC Birmingham

The substantial stand complete with free-standing machines and an innovative animated production line, was very well attended. The machines exhibited included : Little David tape sealers LD7 and Legend, the CF20EC Case Erector, the Loveshaw Plus Pallet Wrapper and Inkjet Case Coders. Also on display for the first time, was a combined flap folding sealer and label applicator ; an area where Loveshaw believe they are first to market this innovative solution that allows sealing and labelling to take place together.

Glenn Woodthorpe, Loveshaw Sales Manager said 'exhibitions give us a great opportunity to demonstrate our end-of-line packaging machinery, the show helps us in building relationships with old & new customers alike, as well as securing a number of high quality leads we also took several orders for multiple machines during the exhibition.'

Kevin Green, General Manager commented 'I believe that our stand demonstrated our core beliefs. Simplicity, innovation and a desire to save our customers money, one well know Scottish Shortbead Company was so impressed at how quick it is to change from one case size to another, they bought three machines on the spot! I don't think endorsements come any better than that'
